Braces are a device used to straighten teeth. There are different types of braces such as traditional metal, ceramic braces or Invisalign.
Braces work by applying steady pressure on your teeth in a specific direction for an amount of time (approximate 2 years). Every month or two the patient should visit our orthodontist in Glendale to have the braces adjusted. Once the teeth are completely straightened the patient may have to wear retainers to avoid the teeth going to their original position.
The patient may experience some discomfort caused by the wires, brackets, and bands that irritate the mouth.
Straight teeth not only help a person’s self-esteem and self-confidence but also contribute to healthy teeth and gums and result in a good bite which improves chewing and jaw placement, preventing physical problems.
